BRUSHING A CHILD'S  TEETH

Few children before the age of 5 can brush their teeth independently. Monitor the brushing habits of your child. Brush twice daily. Use fluoridated toothpaste of the size of a peanut on a baby brush. Concentrate not only on the front but also the back teeth and not only the outside but also the inside surfaces of the teeth.

Flossing

Flossing removes bacteria and plaque that brushing can't reach. Floss your child's teeth daily. When the child is old enough, a floss holder can help him or her floss.

Fluoride

Fluoride makes the tooth enamel stronger. This helps prevent cavities. Ask your dentist if your child can be given fluoride supplements. The dentist may also apply fluoride to your child's adult teeth at regularly checkups.
